General adult and old age psychiatry higher specialist training

This is a combined training programme for general adult and old age psychiatry.

Trainees are appointed to a training scheme for a single CCT in either general adult or old age psychiatry, or for a dual general adult and old age CCT. Dual training in general adult psychiatry and medical psychotherapy is currently under development.

The training programme directors are Dr Peter Hughes and Dr Nicola Omu.

Core psychiatric training

Our core psychiatry training programme is composed of six-monthly placements over three years within the London boroughs of Wandsworth, Kingston, Richmond, Merton and Sutton.

There are around 45 core trainees on the scheme, with about 14 new trainees recruited each year. The training programme directors are Dr Mary Howlett and Dr Ed Burns.

Training for  occupational therapists

We offer placements to occupational therapy students from local universities. We also conduct research with the universities into the benefits of occupational therapy.

We are committed to practice placement education and have invested in the training of placement educators and aim to increase the number of student places.
