Welcome to the Research and Development department (R&D)

Our R&D department provides vital support and information to new and experienced researchers.

We have a great track record in delivering nationally and internationally prominent research underpinned by robust research management and governance processes, and a strong commitment to service quality.

This is strengthened by our membership of the South London and South East (SLSE) hub of the Mental Health Research Network and London (South) Comprehensive Local Research Network. Our programme of research operates jointly with St George's, University of London and Royal Holloway, University of London to form a single higher education institution.

We have started a number of measures to create investment in and development through our commitment to training. These include development and internal restructuring to form multiple cross-cutting research themes.

Trust reporting performance in initiating and delivering clinical research

Performance in Clinical Research

A key government objective is to increase the number of patients who have the opportunity to participate in research and to enhance the nation’s attractiveness as a host for research. There is a requirement for NHS Trusts to improve their performance in approving research studies (giving NHS approval) and recruiting participants to these studies.

Please see the links below for a list of studies where the performance has been measured in terms of the length of time taken for NHS approval to be granted and the date when the first participant was recruited to the study. Information will also be provided in the future on trials that have finished, highlighting whether the research study achieved its recruitment target.
