Forensic services

Forensic inpatient service for patients with intellectual disabilities, with or without autism, who require specialist mental health care.

This is an exciting, unique opportunity to join our forensic inpatient service for male adult patients detained under a section of the Mental Health Act who have intellectual (learning) disabilities, with or without autism.

This ward, specially adapted for the needs of patients requiring specialist mental healthcare in a forensic setting, is in a brand new state-of-the-art building, opening late Spring at Springfield University Hospital in Tooting – part of a wider redevelopment including shops, cafes and parkland, walking distance from public transport.

You’ll be joining a highly specialist multidisciplinary team which is diverse, welcoming and progressive, equipped to effectively assess, treat and provide appropriate therapies for mental disorders within this newly developed service. You can view the structure of the team here.

This is an excellent opportunity to enhance your existing talents or develop a new set of skills. New colleagues will join a robust, comprehensive three-week training and induction programme before the ward opens to patients, plus you’ll have access to an ongoing training package. You’ll be supported through regular conversations to develop personally within the role.

Those who need to relocate may be entitled to up to £8k relocation package. The Trust offers a great range of staff benefits to all our colleagues, including a generous pension, a cycle to work scheme, and family friendly benefits.

Our Trust is committed to supporting staff in their career aspirations. Depending on your role and experience we can offer you opportunities (Trust-wide and within the service) for coaching and training, working with you for continuous professional development to grow your career and achieve your ambitions.
