Wisteria Ward

Wisteria Ward is a 12-bed inpatient Eating Disorder service for young people aged 11-18. The service is commissioned by NHS England and managed within the South London Partnership CAMHS Tier 4 provider collaborative.

Depending on your needs you will see a variety of people including Social Workers, Mental Health practitioners, Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, Systemic Family Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Dieticians and Psychiatrists. Some of our key staff include:

  • Ward Manager
  • Consultant Psychiatrists
  • Associate Specialists
  • Modern Matron
  • Psychologists and Psychotherapists
  • Allied Health Professionals

If you use our services, you will receive an assessment of your mental health needs and a care plan detailing the support you will receive.

Wisteria ward is typically a friendly, peaceful environment. However, things can get noisier at times. The staff are easy to get along with and will do all they can to help you.

During the day there are activities, groups and school.

Young people will be allocated a named nurse and named doctor who will be the main points of contact for young people and their parents/carers.

Conditions we treat

Young people who use our services get an assessment of their mental health needs and a plan of the care and support they will receive. You will also have one named person who co-ordinates your care and support. This person will be called either a named professional or a care co-ordinator. This person will be your main point of contact and you can speak to them about how your treatment and support are going.

We cover the following conditions:

Binge Eating

Anorexia nervosa

Bulimia

Eating disorders

Referrals

Referrals are accepted from Tier 3 and Tier 4 CAMHS services.

All referrals go through the South London Partnership Bed Management team.

Referrals can be made by a range of services including CAMHS, Paediatricians, Social Services, Schools, and GP's. We do not accept self referrals.

We encourage telephone contact to discuss potential referrals. Following this a referral form is completed and sent via secure e-mail to the unit. The unit is commissioned by NHS England and referrals are accepted from within the UK. For referrals outside England funding will need to be agreed with the local team prior to admission.
