Student accommodation

The Trust has accommodation at Springfield hospital.  The Trust covers a wide geographical area so staying at Springfield might not be the best option for students placed in other parts of the organisation.

Contact your PPE or the Trust's Occupational Therapy placement  oordinator for advice.

Springfield Hospital: Diamond Estate

Description of accommodation: Bedsit consisting of a bedroom with sink in a 4 bedroom house. Communal areas i.e. kitchen, toilet, living room & bathroom are shared with 3 other tenants. Residents are expected to provide their own crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils and bed linen including pillows and duvets.

No TV is provided.

Price: £480* per month inclusive of council tax, gas, water and electricity. *Price correct June 2018 & may be subject to change

Payments: You are not required to pay a deposit.

If your placement is less than 2 months you will be asked to pay for the whole rental period at the start of your placement.  

If your placement is longer than 2 months you will be charged monthly in advance.

Car Parking

Car parking charges apply to visitors at:

  • Springfield University Hospital
  • Tolworth Hospital

Pay and Display machines are available and the charges are listed below:

  • £3 up to 2 hours
  • £5 up to 4 hours
  • £10 up to 12 hours

Parking spaces are limited at Springfield Hospital and as such we encourage travel using public transport or other means if possible, cars should be used as a last resort.  However visitors accessing our services are entitled to a concession if they are unable to use public transport the minimum charge of £3 always applies.  Please contact the department you are visiting to access the concession rate.

It may be more cost effective for staff to apply for a staff permit, a criteria needs to be met to qualify for a staff permit.  Permits can be applied for if you live more than 5 miles from your site base or you use your vehicle for work purposes.

There are two types of staff permits:

  • Red Permit allows you to pay by salary deduction at the discounted staff rate of £20 per month or £12 per month if working 0.60wte or less.
  • Blue permit allows you to pay at the pay and display machines at the reduced rate of £20/month or a daily charge of £3 the minimum charge.  Press the + button on the pay and display to reach the required payment amount first payment being the £3 minimum charge and subsequently increasing to £5/£10/£20 for staff monthly rate.  Staff can purchase up to 6 months in advance on one transaction by continuing to press the + button.  Cash & credit / debit cards are accepted. 

A valid parking permit and the issued parking ticket must be clearly displayed in your vehicle.
