South West London and St George’s announces names for new hospital buildings

Earlier this year the Trust ran a community competition to name our new forensic and non-forensic buildings with a judging panel selecting the top entries.

The new facilities are part of a major programme of investment and innovation supporting the improvement of mental health services in South West London. They will be home to a number of different services including CAMHS, Eating Disorders and our National Deaf Services, and will provide our patients with best environment in which to recover.

Help name our new non-forensic building - Tota or Trinity?

Earlier this year we ran a community competition to name our new forensic and non-forensic buildings.

We received a many poignant and interesting suggestions for the buildings – thank you to everyone who submitted an entry.

International Security Officers Day

24 July marks International Security Officers Day. The date specifically chosen to represent the 24/7 nature of security work, work that provides the reassurance to each and everyone of us to carry out our daily routine with a little less worry.

Burntwood Lane entrance closed at Springfield: Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 July 2021

Our construction partners Sir Robert McApline will be closing parts of the Burntwood Lane entrance (see map below) to vehicular traffic at Springfield on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 July 2021 to undertake essential roadworks.

Share Community art exhibition

Share Community, a local charity supporting adults with learning disabilities, is delighted to take part in the Wandsworth Arts Fringe for the first time this year. Their exhibition, No Limitations, showcases an eclectic range of artwork produced exclusively by students on Share’s arts programme.

South London mental health trusts, CCGs and councils pledge support for local pandemic recovery

NHS mental health Trusts and councils promised action to limit the pandemic’s long-term impact on the wellbeing of south Londoners at a virtual community summit this week.

Around 500 community leaders and members of the public joined the virtual event on Wednesday evening to hear public sector leaders make a series of specific pledges at the climax of South London Listens, a listening campaign that started last year. More than 5,700 people told community leaders about the pandemic-related pressures on them and those they care about in 1-1 and group meetings.

South London Listens: NHS survey reveals toll of Covid-19 on south Londoners' mental health

An NHS survey has revealed the toll the Covid-19 pandemic has taken on south Londoners’ mental health – and the difficulty many have had in accessing support.

Almost half of the 577 people who took part said they have experienced depressive symptoms during the pandemic while 42% reported feelings of anxiety. However, the numbers of people accessing support for such conditions barely rose over the last 15 months - almost half (48%) did not know how to do so. The survey suggests that this information gap is particularly significant amongst people aged 18-34.

Infant Mental Health Awareness Week and Carers Week

7 June 2021 marks the start of Infant Mental Health Awareness Week and Carers Week. The annual campaigns are marked by a week long timetable of activities and events to raise awareness for both important causes. The Trust will be running a week long program of events for both Infant Mental Health Awareness Week and Carers Week.

Celebrating LGBTQIA+ Pride Month 2021

Pride month, celebrated in June, is a month dedicated to celebrating all LGBTQIA+ people and communities around the world. The first ever LGBTQIA+ Pride was organised in New York by Brenda Howard (known as “The Mother of Pride) in 1970, a year after The Stonewall Inn in New York was raided by the police on 28 June 1969, which resulted in protests and riots in favour of LGBTQIA+ rights.
