Covid-19: Urgent community summit to prevent a mental health crisis

Community leaders join forces with South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust to take urgent action to prevent a mental health crisis caused by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.  

On Wednesday 16 June 2021, community leaders, South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust and the South West London Integrated Care System will be hosting an urgent community summit between 6-8pm to share the top priorities for a two-year action plan. 

Coral Mental Health Crisis Hub to launch on 1 June

From June 1 2021, the Trust’s ‘Coral Mental Health Crisis Hub’ will be operational, providing mobile mental health crisis support to people across South West London.  

Following news shared earlier this year on the development of the Trust’s crisis pathway, it will shortly complete its transition into Coral, a mobile crisis response service supporting those in crisis to be cared for away from A&E or an acute mental health facility.

SWLSTG Mental Health NHS Trust secures £2.8m investment in community mental health services

South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust (SWLSTG) has been successful in securing £2.8m to support the development of its adult community mental health services.

The funding will be used to deliver improvements as part of a larger investment over the next three years in community services. In line with ambitions set out in the NHS Long Term Plan, this will see the development of new models of care across South West London, designed to support community and inpatient services to work better together.

South London Listens – Mental Ill Health Prevention and Recovery Community Summit

Community leaders from across South London invite you to the South London Listens mental health summit on Wednesday 16 June 2021 where they will present urgent actions to tackle the looming mental health crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.  

Whether it is dealing with the virus itself, losing your job, feeling isolated, or the tragedy of losing a loved one, we have all had a very personal experience of living through this pandemic.

Trust confirms Non-Executive Director’s reappointment

South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust is pleased to confirm that Non-Executive Director, Vik Sagar, who joined the Trust as an associate Non-Executive Director in 2017, before becoming a Non-Executive Director in 2019, has been re-appointed for another three years to 30 April 2024.

Service users, carers and staff show creative talents during Activation Week!

The Trust hosted a fantastic Activation Week in collaboration with arts and mental health charity Hospital Rooms last week.

Hospital Rooms led 11 art workshops across wards on the Springfield and Queen Mary sites. Artists Tim A Shaw, Sara Berman, Richard Mark Rawlins, Susie Hamilton and Steve Macleod came up with a rich array of creative sessions that ranged from painting on trainers to developing photographs in the sunshine. They saw an abundance of talent within our wards and are going to continue working with us over the coming 2 years to eventually create the artworks for the new hospital.

In this week’s episode, Tasnim Munaim and Esther Cameron talk to special guest Bernard Mapfumo all about exercise and mental wellbeing – Bernard is a Wellbeing Practitioner at Merton Uplift and a Personal Trainer at Nuffield Health. He joins the show to discuss his experience of trying to stay active in lockdown, the importance of setting achievable goals and the benefits of looking after our bodies on our minds.
