Are you suffering from low mood or depression? Our Sutton Wellbeing service is open for business during January

Are you suffering from low mood or depression? Lots of people get depressed in winter, or suffer from 'the winter blues'. The medical name for this winter depression is seasonal affective disorder (SAD).

The Sutton Uplift service - a unique service which offers help and advice to people who are depressed or are anxious - is open for business throughout January to offer support and information on mental wellbeing.

Sutton Uplift is an innovative mental health service, sign posting local residents to the most appropriate mental health care according to their needs. Through its innovative Well-Being Service, Sutton residents are able to access bespoke mental health advice, support and treatment in a non-stigmatising manner, thereby improving their mental health wellbeing.

The service can help you if you are suffering from low mood, depression, anxiety, traumatic stress or panic attacks. There are groups and classes that can support you, including Mood Management courses, Self Confidence Workshops, Panic and Phobia courses, and a Living Well course. Sutton Uplift also offers a service for people with a stable mental health diagnosis such as psychosis and Bipolar Affective disorder.

Alex Roger, Service Manager at Sutton Uplift said:

"Sutton Uplift is a free, innovative service based on the values of empowerment and preventing ill health through recognising people's own strengths and capabilities. We want to start new conversations with people about health and wellbeing with the ultimate aim of building resilience within the community.

"We have a wide range of services and will be launching our new self-management courses in January 2016 - including 'Five ways to my wellbeing' and 'Learning to be assertive'.

"Get in contact with us and find out more about what we can offer you".

If the short, dark days are getting you down, or you want to talk over the way you are feeling - call Sutton Uplift. They have a wide range of highly qualified and experienced mental health professionals including Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, Cognitive Behavioural therapists, Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, Graduate Mental Health Workers, and Employment Support Advisors ready to help you.

If you are over 18 and a local resident, or registered with a Sutton GP and would like more information on any of the services please see the Sutton Uplift website www.suttonuplift.co.uk or call 0800 032 1411.
