South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust is pleased to announce that Professor Deborah Bowman MBE has been reappointed as a non-executive Director until December 2022.
A leading academic and author, Professor Bowman is Emeritus Professor of Bioethics, Clinical Ethics and Medical Law at St George's, University of London. Deborah works as a consultant and advisor in ethics and organisational development across sectors, particularly where values, high stakes decisions or difficult choices are under consideration. She continues as a researcher, writer and broadcaster.
Professor Bowman originally joined the Board in January 2019 and has chaired the Quality and Safety Assurance Committee since then. Her other appointments include Board membership of the Princess Alice Hospice, Panel Chair for the UK Council of Psychotherapy and Independent Council member at the General Osteopathic Council. In addition she will commence as a Human Tissue Authority member from January 2021.
Announcing Deborah’s reappointment, Trust Chair, Ann Beasley, said: “I am very pleased to be able to say that Deborah has been reappointed and will continue to lend her expertise and knowledge to the Trust. Her experience has been and will continue to be invaluable.”
In line with all NHS Trust NEDs in England, Professor Bowman will receive remuneration of £11,500 per annum, increased from 1 April 2021 to £13,000 per annum.
