South West London Mental Health Recovery Café Won National Charity Award

South West London Mental Health Recovery Café Won National Charity Award

Congratulations to the crisis charity Hestia for winning the national Charity Today Awards for their South West London Recovery Café service, which provides support to adults who are experiencing a mental health crisis in SW London.

Commissioned and funded by South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust, the Recovery Café, which is open to residents in the Wandsworth, Merton, Sutton, Kingston and Richmond boroughs, acts as a community-based alternative to A&E by assisting attendees in reducing their immediate anxiety and crisis and developing coping mechanisms.

Clinical Director for Acute and Urgent Care services at the Trust, Dr Sean Whyte, said: “It is fantastic to hear that Hestia’s work with the Recovery Café has been recognised and won an award. The café provides vital support to people experiencing a mental health crisis in an environment which is safe, calm and supportive. It has been a great example of co-production that helps people feeling isolated and vulnerable across south west London."
