‘Sutton Uplift’ service shortlisted for a HSJ Value in Healthcare Award

The 'Sutton Uplift' service operates in the heart of the community supporting anyone who is 18 years and over, lives in the borough of Sutton or is registered with a Sutton GP who has a mental health or wellbeing need, albeit a life stressor or an emotional difficulty. 

The service is an integrated primary care service, and an integral part of the CCG's commitment to offer enhanced primary care mental health services and evidence based psychological therapy services to local people. 

The service brings together a partnership between the NHS and local voluntary sector organisations and was launched on 1 July 2015. Service partners include South West London and St George's Mental Health Trust, Imagine, Age UK, Sutton Carers Centre, No Panic, Off the Record (young people's counselling service).

Sutton Uplift also provides a service to people with an enduring mental health diagnosis whose condition is stable, who traditionally have been cared for in secondary care mental health services. With values based on empowerment and building resilience within the community, support is tailored to the individual. 

The HSJ Awards recognises, celebrates, and promotes the finest achievements in NHS, and showcases them to the service's most influential leaders. Among the judges this year are Salford Royal Foundation Trust chief executive Sir David Dalton, NHS Improvement chief executive Jim Mackey, and Care Quality Commission chief inspector of primary care Steve Field.
