South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust (SWLSTG) is proud to have Bluebell ward accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists as part of the Quality Mental Health Deaf Services Network.
The Royal College of Psychiatrists’ Combined Committee for Accreditation met on 14th February 2017 and made a decision to accredit Bluebell Ward.
The team has been working hard over the last year to fully meet all the quality standards required for this comprehensive accreditation process. These standards are the best possible standards for this specialty.
Bluebell Ward provides assessment and treatment for deaf adults with mental illness and mental health problems. It is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team and both deaf and hearing staff are proficient in British Sign Language (BSL).
Accredited services are measured against a set of national quality standards to check that the right things are in place to encourage good quality care. The accreditation process looks for evidence that staff members are well trained, well supported and working within organised and safe systems.
SWLSTG Chief Executive David Bradley said:
“Our Trust’s national deaf mental health service is one of the best in the country and we are proud that the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ have acknowledged the hard work our teams put in every day serving our people in our deaf communities who are most vulnerable.”
