Trust launches new website for patients, staff and the community

South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust (SWLSTG) today launched its new website which features: extensive information for patients and families, virtual ward tours, a comprehensive service directory, expert advice and event listings from community partners.

Chief Executive David Bradley said: “It is very important to us that we provide patients, their families and the public as much information as possible about the services we offer. We want the website to be an information portal for people who may already be using mental health services or have been referred for the first time.

“In May The Trust was formally accredited by the Information Standard – a health care certification programme (supported by NHS England) which demonstrates the Trust as an outstanding source for the most current information available on mental health. Patients, their families and the public can rest assured that any information we publish is based on reliable sources, unbiased and agreed to by our clinical experts.

“The website includes videos from our experts that help explain the services we provide and what to expect as well as 360 degree virtual tours of the wards on our site.

“Patients and their families can see what wards actually look like which will help ease any anxiety if you or your loved one is coming in for treatment. All information available to patients in the Service is now available online in one place.

“There are also a number of videos of staff who work for the Trust. We were voted as one of the top 100 NHS trusts to work for and we are proud of the range of career development opportunities available here at SWLSTG.”

Over the coming months more content and videos will be made available on the new website.

As well as an A-Z of services people can look for information on all mental health conditions and plan their journey on how to get to their appointment. The new website includes a breakdown of the specialist services we offer and treatments available including: eating disorders, forensic services, National deaf services, Neuropsychiatry, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), perinatal outpatient services and traumatic stress services.

For the first time we have created a hub for the Recovery College – which allows patients to find out what courses are available or how to get involved.

David said “We are grateful to the hundreds of people, including patients, carers and staff who have been involved in shaping the new site.  The Trust continues to work tirelessly to challenge the stigma of mental health and this website is a tool to help break down barriers for people accessing our services and will be an incredible asset for patients, their families and community.”
