The Trust has also ranked 15th out of 55 in our sector and has received a Silver Employer Award for our work and commitment to workplace equality.
What is Stonewall Workplace Equality Index (WEI)?
The Stonewall WEI is the UK’s leading tool for benchmarking LGBTQIA+ inclusion in the workplace, and acts as a framework to help create more inclusive workplaces.
Each year, the WEI assesses the work at the Trust by asking a series of questions about our commitment to LGBTQIA+ people and the projects we have undertaken in support of this group, including:
We will be meeting with our Stonewall Account Manager to discuss our WEI results in more detail and to start scoping our actions going forward. Stonewall Diversity Champions benefit from in-depth, tailored feedback on their submission, inclusive of written and verbal feedback, with best practice examples and ways Stonewall can support us further.
Who was involved in the WEI?
Throughout 2021, a full consultation with key stakeholders was carried out to finalise our submission. Staff also completed an anonymous survey about their experiences of diversity and inclusion at work which was included as a part of the final scoring.
LGBTQIA+ at SWLSTG
Our Trust is fully committed to all of the myriad of communities, identities and expression that fall under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella, representing our staff, service users, patients and community. Our Making Life Better Together culture programme aims to reduce inequalities and make the Trust a great place to work.
Our Trust is accredited as a Stonewall Diversity Champion and we work in partnership to empower LGBTQIA+ people and their allies to step up as leaders, role models, and activists in our workplace.
We also have a LGBTQIA+ Staff Network which aims to enhance the employee work experience, support the Trust’s objectives and provide invaluable insights into how the Trust can ensure equal opportunities are available to all employees.
