On Monday 9 July, South West London and St George’s Mental Health Trust welcomed guests from the Ministry of Public Health in Qatar for a visit organised by CEO for Qatar mental health, Ian Tulley.
Led by Qatar’s Minister of Public Health, Her Excellency Dr Hanan Al Kuwari, the group were given a tour of the Springfield Hospital site including our award winning psychiatric decision unit, the Lotus Assessment Suite, as taking the opportunity to find out more about our £160m Estate Modernisation programme which will deliver two new state-of-the-art hospitals in Tooting and Tolworth.
They were particularly interested in how we have worked to offer integrated care in our local communities and the transformation of services to increase choice and efficiencies.
The group then had a chance for an information sharing question and answer session with the Trust’s Medical Director, Dr Mark Potter and Director of Nursing, Vanessa Ford.
Speaking about the visit, Director of Nursing, Vanessa Ford said “It is always a pleasure to welcome colleagues from around the world to share best practice and discuss innovations and it was especially nice to welcome Dr Kuwari and her colleagues at a time when the NHS is high in people’s minds and our Trust is leading with way with award winning developments like the Lotus Assessment Suite.”
