Eating Disorders Outpatient Community Team

Who we are

The adult eating disorders outpatient service offers specialist treatment to adults with a range of moderate to severe eating disorders who are under the care of a GP in Kingston, Merton, Richmond, Sutton and Wandsworth.

The service includes the Enhanced Treatment Team (ETT) which offers intensive support and treatment to patients in their own homes or in the community. The ETT targets patients referred for an inpatient admission and where appropriate provides intensive community support as an alternative. The ETT also supports patients’ discharge from our inpatient service Avalon ward. The ETT launched in January 2023 – you can read more about the team here.

What you can expect

Our service treats moderate to severe eating disorders, Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Binge Eating Disorder.  Clients will be initially assessed by a member of the MDT team comprising of Nurses, Psychiatrists, Psychologists and Family Therapist. This will allow the client to discuss their difficulties more fully and to think about goals for recovery and treatment options. Our team can also refer to our sibling services, such as our Adult Eating Disorders Day Unit and In-patient ward (Avalon Ward).

Referrals

*From May 2022 the e-RS route will be the only way for GP Practices to send in referrals. This means that all first outpatient referrals must come into our Trust via the Electronic Referral Service (e-RS).

For health professionals: Please see our information for referrers and referral form

If you are unsure whether or not to make a referral contact the service via email: Adultseatingdisordersteam@swlstg.nhs.uk
