Our Trust Strategy 2026 - 2031

Our Trust Strategy sets out our vision for the future and how we will continue to improve mental health services for the people and communities we serve across south west London over the next five years.

Our Trust StrategyOver recent years, we have modernised our hospital buildings, expanded services, strengthened partnerships and continued to deliver high-quality care. Our Strategy builds on these achievements and sets out how we will respond to the growing demand for mental health services and the changing needs of our local communities.

By 2031, we want everyone who uses our services to receive excellent, timely, personalised and recovery-focused care, delivered in partnership with communities and tailored to individual needs. Care will be equitable, joined up and provided in the right place at the right time, supporting people to live well and thrive.

At the heart of the Strategy are four strategic ambitions:

  1. Increasing quality years: People with serious mental illness (SMI) live longer, healthier and more fulfilling lives through excellent mental and physical healthcare, early intervention and improved experience, and reducing the mortality gap between people with SMI and the general population.
  2. Reducing inequalities: Eliminating unfair differences in access, experience and outcomes and becoming a leader in anti-racist, equitable mental health care.
  3. Making the Trust a great place to work: Creating a safe, inclusive and supportive workplace where colleagues thrive, feel valued and can deliver the best possible care.
  4. Ensuring sustainability: Ensuring a culture of innovation and improvement delivers financially sustainable, digitally enabled and productive services from accessible locations which support wider NHS Green Plan goals.

Watch our video to find out how we are working with patients, carers, communities and partners to bring these ambitions to life:

These ambitions will be delivered through strong partnership working with our service users, carers, communities, primary care, local authorities and voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise partners, helping to improve mental health and wellbeing across south west London.

The Strategy is underpinned by principles that reflect who we are and how we work: being actively anti-racist and inclusive, putting patients at the centre of everything we do, championing mental health, embracing digital innovation, delivering evidence-based care, working closely with our communities and continually striving to improve.

Our Trust Strategy for 2026-203 reaffirms our mission of Making Life Better Together and our commitment to working alongside our communities, partners and staff to deliver outstanding mental healthcare for the people and communities we serve.
